Bro, this is a black mirror episode. I think it is a possible outcome but I wonder if the digital/uploaded version of ourselves, really is ourselves. Similar to cloning in the physical world.

Almost like asking: in the world of The Matrix, does Keanu Reeves the actor exist?

Speculating on the postman is nothing new. Still not seeing any difference between what people are talking about today and William Gibson's cyberspace. And if science fiction literature is even half right, the early forms of disembodied consciousness will be highly unattractive ways of continuing our existence. Who would want to be Dixie Flatline?

Funny to see this come back - all of this existed more than a decade ago in 2nd life - avatars even had legs unlike those weird floating torsos Microsoft is using.

In 2nd life land price was basically a hosting fee - some locations were worth more than others I suppose because of proximity to other things, but since you could 'teleport' between locations - rather than walking/flying - it didn't matter as much as in the physical world...

    Welcome to Metaverse hipster Adrian..

This week Adrian Cheng Chi-kong, the third-generation scion of Hong Kong’s New World Development, announced he has purchased one of the biggest plots in The Sandbox. The 42-year-old billionaire said he will form a “GBA Pavilion” in which start-ups from the Greater Bay Area can sell their products virtually.
Whats there in running real buses on real road in a real world when you can build virtual GBA and sale land at a premium!!!

Infrastructure firm NWS Holdings has agreed to sell one of Hong Kong’s largest franchised bus operations – Citybus and New World First Bus – for HK$3.2 billion (US$410.2 million), saying the objective of the deal is to save jobs in a coronavirus-hit business environment.
