    There was a thread on earlyretirement,org where a lot of posters said they were doing exactly this: cancelling subscriptions for one or more services for a year or so until the content offering had been refreshed and then rotating back.

    It seems like the rational approach. Paying for all the services would cost way more than a standard TV subscription with loads of channels.
