    Netflix - 25% Drop

A sign of how jittery the markets are. Netflix just lost 25%ish on a reported loss of 200Kish subscribers and forward earnings impact.

Looks like it's going to be a nasty earnings season?

I don't think you can generalize Netflix out to the wider market. I do believe it will continue to be a rocky ride for wildly overvalued Tech stocks though

Netflix has pretty much run out of growth potential in its key markets because everyone's already a subscriber and there are new players in the market forcing people to choose or pay hundreds of dollars in total. The only way is down

It's amazing how fragmented the streaming market has become. I just signed up for AMC+ to watch the final season of Better Call Saul. We have HBOMax because of a promotion with mobile phone service. We have Disney+ because of a promotion with our ISP. We have PBS because of a donation. We pay for Netflix out of pocket. And I'm sure there is a streaming service we're paying for that I've forgotten.

That said, I bet Netflix gets a subscription bump when the new season of Stranger Things drops.

As a consumer, I'm looking forward to some consolidation so I/my family dont need to subscribe to so many different platforms/providers...it's a pain to manage.

pirating will make a comeback because of this market fragmentation.

I pirated this week for the first time in years. Fired up the old torrent client running on my Synology NAS to download "Tokyo Vice" which I wanted to watch but is on HBOMax and no way on earth I'm paying for another service. Now I've got Netflix, Amazon Prime and Spotify. In the past I've had Disney+ and a few others, just can't keep up with all the services.
