I think I heard on TV that Tesla shares are down 32% YTD. Is that correct?

Yes down 34% YTD. But still not yet as low as they were Jan 2023. Basically rocketed up and then plummeted back down again.

Toyota, quietly selling record numbers of traditional and hybrid cars, up 102% in the last 12 months (stock code 7203 on Tokyo exchange).

That Cathie Wood is still enthusiastic about Tesla. What's that phrase about other people's money?

OK forget my previous post. Tesla is now screwed, the once dominant auto maker now forced to rent out carparks in abandoned US shopping malls to store their unsold cars

Chesterfield, about 40 kilometres from St. Louis, Missouri, around 400 Teslas

That's 825.8 mi away from the Austin factory... you do realise how stupid it would be to build then ship hundreds of cars to far away location just to store them? Those cars are destined to be delivered and bulk transported into centralised location...

Nothing gets in the way from the tabloid writing catchy headlines without any substantial thought process.

400 cars - less than a single day of production from Fremont.

Speaking from experience, cars off of production can be held for various reasons. I.e. quality check, part defect, production recall etc.
These automakers usually make cars to specific orders months and months ahead.
