Musk & Twitter: The Second Act

Looks like the second of a three part act has started...

Elon Musk said on Friday his $44-billion deal for Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) was temporarily on hold, citing pending details on spam and fake accounts.

"Twitter deal temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users," Musk said in a tweet.

Shares of the social media company fell 20% in premarket trading. Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Read an article arguing Musk's best bet would be to walk away from the deal, pay the 1 billion fine and then make a new offer. The estimate was Twitter would lose 50% of it's value if Musk walked away.

Are there any rules against him just sweeping up a crap ton of stock below his offer on the open market while creating all this drama? Would reduce his average price significantly.

Afaik the board can issue new stock at a discounted price if someone owns more than 15% of the shares.

Ironically the overpaid CEO who owns essentially zero shares and has never used the platform probably loves this more than anybody else

Parag Agrawal owns 128k Twitter shares - worth $7 million at Musk's offer.
