    Its fully fungible right.. don't think those guys thought of having a tracking number attached to every share you have.. but its an interesting idea..

    I think many share owners do not want others to know who is the final party owning the shares.. and there are always stock lending to facilitate shorting, etc... make things more complicated than it is needed though.

    OK, thanks for that. I always just assumed that like old fashioned stock certificates there would be digital numbering scheme to electronic securities.

    Wonder how they consolidate ownership and track real owners vs fakes at a registrar. Surely it is not all trust and rules based without identifiers and audit logs.
