    Well, I hope some of you took the benefit while it lasted... or perhaps not!

    UCO Bank still appears to be giving 4.5%

    My concern with SBM is that no one will bail them out if they fail as far as I can tell.

    Some of you guys may not want to lock up your money in fixed/time deposits but would wish to earn a higher yield on your savings balances lying around with the flexibility to move your money whenever you like.

    India has recently started something called GIFT City which is essentially an offshore centre to park money but technically onshore in India. For the first time, they allow complete foreigners who have no Indian links like OCI to put their money in accounts.

    Check this out. You can get 3.75% on your USD balance and 4.1% if it's over $1M. I think the minimum balance is like $1000. There's no inward remittance fee into the account and there's an outward remittance fee of $10 which is pretty low.
