In the past I've read a book called "Stock Market Logic" which has been very informative though relatively old.

Also, I'd recommend the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) cirriculum books, even though you probably aren't going for the certification. The CFA books are very informative and one doesn't have to be a "business guru" to understand most of it just a good business understanding. I also a text book I thought was really interesting was "Essentials of Investments", though that is a text book it's very easy to understand even with out an instructor. Here's a link to "Amazon.com: Essentials of Investments with S&P bind-in card (Mcgraw-Hill/Irwin Series in Finance, Insurance and Real Estate) (9780073368719): Zvi Bodie, Alex Kane, Alan Marcus: [email protected]@[email protected]@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/[email protected]@[email protected]@51o-eniriFL" on Amazon.
