This is an expat forum for expats based in Hong Kong so you're not going to find many Canada/HK tax specialists because the number of tax specialists in Hong Kong is very small to begin with as most taxes are very standard business tax/salary tax and specialists that deal with transfer pricing.

Better place would be to look at firms in Canada that can help. I used to be a Canadian tax accountant so I could refer some firms if you'd like and they could probably point you in the right direction.

Yeah, I figured looking on the Canadian side would make the most sense as that's where the complexity is.

But I don't think what some of the posters were looking for was necessarily someone to do Canadian taxes now and/or be 100% up on the latest regulations and what not.

I think it's more someone who has a good base of experience and can advise generally on considerations for people with a foot in both places. And I thought there'd be those kinds of people here.

Years ago I went to a free HSBC seminar on property or something, not realizing it was geared to UK people and they went into all kinds of detail about UK taxes and considerations for UK people living in HK.

So with all the flogging of Canadian properties and investments over here, as well as all the people with interests in both places, I'd have thought there were those kinds of advisors here.
