If selling stuff online for extra income - need to pay income or profit tax?
Call up the tax department, they are pretty helpful. I believe the rule is you don't pay tax if the income originates offshore.
The rule is that you are taxed if you carry out core trade or business in Hong Kong. However, that will depend on how you plan to operate.
i.e. will you actually have physical goods imported/exported from HK? will you make or receive payment in HK or overseas (if you have accounts elsewhere)?
My feeling is that if you are based in Hong Kong and you actually have regular actions to sell your items then you are carrying out a business in HK.
