    Post Marriage and Child Allowance

    Hello friends

My husband runs a company for which I'm a share holder as well. We are a small dance Company, so he just takes very minimal salary...However the hse rents and all other Bill's are paid from the co acts...

I basically help my husband in all his bookkeeping records...This is the first time that he is filing his individual tax return...

Just wanted to know how does the marriage and child allowance work....

We did not tick the option of joint assessment as I dont draw any income (I just help him with his bookkeeping )...

After going thru the IRD website I see that he doesn't even fall in the tax bracket as he takes just minimum salary....

Could anyone pls advise us how does the allowances work as he has never taken one.

    Thank you

You tick the boxes that says married, enter your ID number on his return. You tick the box that says you have a dependent child. When you get your assessment the allowance will have been deducted from his gross income, giving a net taxable income.
