Thanks, didn't realise Gap was available here as I'd only checked Gap Uk.
Sounds like it may be better to give them a miss though.

second ASOS. ordered from them a few times when I was still in the UK, no problem at all. super prompt customer service (they returned my emails and phone calls in less than 24 hours even on a saturday night!). as soon as they received my returned goods they refunded my credit card immediately.
i placed an order with them on 6 sept which was dispatched on the same day, i received it (hk) yesterday (9 sept). no complain whatsoever! a v happy customer![]()
I didn't think buying clothes online from US and UK was so common.
when i first moved here, my family (that lives in HK) told me not to over pack or buy new clothes from back home, because everything that i want till be available in hk.
WELL! that was a complete false (imo)
i shop for clothes online more often then buying them here. shopping in HK is fun and interesting for sure, but there are just some stuff you cannot buy here.
Hi all,
This is such a helpful thread! I went into Zara and Mango in IFC in the hope there might be something suitable....no joy! Many people also told me how wonderful shopping in Honkers was before I came so I wasn't too worried about packing clothes but the reality is that it's all designed for an Asian frame. Even though I am UK size 8-10 on top and size 12 down below the actual cuts and choices of styles are totally inappropriate for my body!
I will definitely be getting onto Asos and Arcadia and completing an order soon - thanks for all the good advice. If anyone finds an actual shop in Hong Kong that is specifically for us Western girls PLEASE POST as I much prefer to try before I buy!
This isn't particularly helpful, I realise, but just got back from a weekend in Singapore and burnt some serious cash in Topshop, Warehouse and Dorothy Perkins! If you stock up, it's worth the (cheap) flight costs to fly there once or twice a year IMO.
I've been using a company called Comgateway.com to ship stuff from the US. They give me a US based mailing address and then forward it to me. I find the shipping cost to be a lot cheaper than Fifty-One. So if you want to get stuff from Gap etc, I'd look at that option.
I've also used Figleaves.com, Bravissimo.com here. I'm thinking of trying out the Arcadia brands, thanks for the info about them!
FYI Asos shipping was free on my recent order yesterday! Whoopee...hope it stays that way!
