No, I can handle foot massage and foot scraping (Shanghai pedi) as that's more culturally acceptable in HK and is a little more "clinical". But a middle aged English bloke going to a full-on nail salon.....eww.....that's just wrong!

Saying that, I'm still trying to convince my (very traditional Northern) father to use shampoo to wash his hair rather than soap. Pretty sure I'll be out of his will if I ever take a guy home who has mani-pedis.

My motto is "to each their own" as long as people don't rub it in my face. That said, I don't think I could handle a middle aged English bloke getting the full treatment. It's like two men kissing. I don't have any problem with it but it's still difficult to look at.

or is it compensating for a lack of something else?

Anyway, there are plenty of ladies who like the new metrosexual man who goes to the spa and "grooms" himself like a girl. They can share fashion tips together

    You just don't get it...
He is the spa bunny, I am the DIY bunny, he finds facials, pedicures and pedicures relaxing - my idea of relaxation is making my own clothes, doing upholstery, etc. Sounds weird or odd to some people, but it works for us
On another note, I rarely wear trousers, much prefer the dresses I make...

My husband doesnt partake but I know men who do and they are 'all male'.

Nothing wrong with wanting to look after yourself and let's face it, in HKG it is so easy and generally more affordable to treat yourself to these little luxuries.
Not to mention that for some men they work long hours but still need to present themselves well (manicured) - it is easier to go sit and let someone else do the job.
