Prices for nail services in HK...high?

So, I'm genuinely curious... Nail services in HK generally seem expensive compared even to Australia (where nothing is cheap!) I can get an infill done back home - and a good one - for max. $60 AUD, yet here, many places I enquire at are charging anywhere from $85-$100 AUD. I know rents are expensive, but labour not so much? Just perplexed... Maybe someone can clue me up on this?!

In the past I've gone to Super Nails in CWB where they charge around $238 HKD for hard gel infill with French - they're okay, but not great. Plus I live in DB so I'm a bit over the trek every few weeks (yes, I know...first world problems!) I tried Maximum Care in DB recently and although the girls there are lovely, I have to honestly say this is one of the worst set of nails I've had done in nearly ten years. Just poor quality all round and after 9 days, a couple of nails lifting quite badly. I went back for a repair, which they did very willingly, however the worst one was lifting again by the following morning. I just don't feel the technicians are overly experienced - not in hard gel anyway, which is what I have done. At over $90 AUD for an infill, I'm really disappointed.

Does anyone know anywhere that's not quite as far as CWB (from DB) that is reasonably priced and does a fair job? TIA.

Welcome to Hong Kong, where charging outrageous prices for crap is a refined art form. Bibbju had a recommendation in another thread, suggest you PM her - http://hongkong.geoexpat.com/forum/4...ml#post2705898

Have you seen a place called Nail88? No-frills place similar to SZ. They have several locations. Never done Gels so not sure if they're any good but they're ok for regular mani/pedi. You need to make an appt.

They moved recently -- that's the new address, right? They look a bit grubby to me, although a friend of mine has said good things about them and their prices are low. It's a bit of a trek, though, to get to Queen's Rd in Sheung Wan from DB.
I have no clue about the type of service you're asking about, but I think iyara in Central (along the escalator) does a good job and their prices are fair (not cheap though).

Another vote for iyara. Pretty good service and reasonable price.

Not for me. The wife. I am the one that has to pay as her nails are wet or some other excuse.
