I have been researching options for hair removal, and have settled on electrolysis as my method of choice.
In my experience, beauty services in Hong Kong care more about selling you things than about your skin. Technicians treat customers as just a "job", putting minimal effort into the work just to collect the money. Any adverse side-effects are always your fault, and are a way for spas to sell you more treatments. The staff pretend to be concerned about your welfare, but it's just surface-level. They exaggerate their professional training and experience and subject you to constant chatter and exaggerated scare tactics about how you need this or that add-on or else your face will fall off.
It makes it very hard to feel I can trust an electrologist here, and since electrolysis requires great skill and can easily go wrong if not performed correctly, I'm seriously worried I'll end up with permanently bumpy or scarred skin - all at a hefty price.
I have fair hair and skin, and am looking to get full-body hair removal, so I'm looking for someone who is experienced, professionally trained (preferably overseas), and will not say she/he can handle the job unless they actually can. They should also be up-front about any risks or if a treatment is not right for me.
I have heard recommendations for The Skin Gym and BPZ. Does anyone have personal experience with these two spas or recommendations for others? Location is not a deciding factor for me, quality is.
Also, just curious how the inflammation/healing process went in Hong Kong for you as it is a comparatively warm, sunny, and humid climate compared to where I'm from (Canada). Did the salons here do a patch test for you?
Thanks very much in advance!! I am quite nervous about finding the right place, so any advice would go a long way in giving me peace of mind <3 <3
