Are there any bars in Tai Po?

Me and the hubby were hoping to go to Tai Po for a couple of beers tonight. A friend told us there were a couple of good bars there a few years ago when he last visited.

Could anyone answer the following questions for me?

    1. Are the bars still there?

    2. Where are they located?

    3. If they are still trading, are Westerners welcome?
(Only asking because I've been to a few places before that don't seem to like us LOL)

    Thanks.

There should be a few western style bars around Kwong Fuk Square if I remember correctly.

Bar Pacific is chain-smoking 20-somethings all staring at their phones, don't waste your time.

Bobby Inn is still there and friendly. King's Belly is a well-run English-style pub. 133 Lounge is also very welcoming.

No pubs on Kwong Fuk Square itself, I don't know when jmbf was last here.

Yes, I had a look on Google Earth and couldn't see any bars on the square. I did see the Bobby London Bar and the 133 though. We decided to stay local last night (Sha Tin) But seen as we are thinking of a move to Tai Po, it was all good info thanks all :0)

I love salad, but I don't usually go to a pub to get one!

It's been a few years admittedly. Those bars aren't there anymore? Used to be a sports bar and one or two other ones.

Actually there is no place called Kwong Fuk Square, but you may be thinking of Tai Ming Lane, the square pedestrian area. There's one bar there but it's got dark glass doors and groups of 14-year-old girls playing dice games. Not really a pub. The King's Belly is a few minutes' walk from there, in a lane behind the jockey club.
