    Thumbs up Mediterranean Restaurant

Yesterday I had a chance to visit this relatively new place on Hollywood Road called “La Kasbah”…and must say that I was pretty impressed! The bar is called “Medzana” and is very well and uniquely done up! The bar is located on the ground floor while you need to go down a flight of stairs (ladies be careful if you’re with high heels…it’s a little dicey) to get to the restaurant!! The theme is Mediterranean / Egyptian…but different from the ones I have been to in HK!!! Very chic and yet very cozy! Though I’m sure that later in evening the bar probably gets much more crowded and loud

The bar has the usual array of spirits that not extensive but good enough! The cocktails sounded nice and my friend liked the “Mohito” as well! They have 5 / 6 different kinds of beer…. but then it’s not meant to be a beer bar so can’t hold that against them! They do have a STRONG Persian drink which is meant to be taken down in one go!! Try it while you enjoy your flavored “Hukka”! I also liked the seating arrangement and the lighting in the place & how they have done it up…giving it an authentic Mediterranean feel!

The food at the restaurant was of very high quality and tasted fabulous! I’d recommend the tuna filled puff / pastry for starters…has a very nice lemony zing to it! The main course was very good and you have a few options to choose from! The service was top-notch and the manager made regular trips to our table to help us out in choosing the dishes and to inquire of our evening! The ambience was great and so was the music if you like Arabic music that is! The table though was a little small…well regular size ….but then the plates were much larger and so were the glasses!

I’d definitely recommend the place and you should try it out if you haven’t been there before!

Oh Btw…the address of the place is 17, Hollywood Road, Central. It’s just two units before Pacific Coffee and is pretty easy to find!

What are the prices and main courses like? Was the food really good or just the atmosphere? Was it a mixed crowd and whaddya mean 'hukka'-was it the real thing?

I've been told by reliable sources that this place turns into a very cool, laid-back Arabian-style disco at night.

Has anybody tried eating at Assaf in Central??? Place is small but cozy enough........ The lunch set is quite filling and it costs like 70 bucks....You get Lebanese Salad with Bread and Homous/Moutabal, choice a sandwich and a softdrink.......

Then there is this Egyptian Resturant Koshiyar in Central which is also having lunch set but I won't recomend it as "no value for money".....
