    Recommendation for anniversary dinner?

    Hi,

My wife and I might be relocating to Hong Kong in the next few months and we'll be visiting from 8-14 August. Our wedding anniversary is around then and we'd like to go for a nice meal to celebrate.

Does anyone have any recommendations (budget is approx. HK$1700 for two excluding wine)?

We've never visited before so no problem if its somewhere a bit more touristy as long as its good/memorable!

    Thanks!

I'd recommend One Thirty One, for an intimate anniversary dinner, but it's not located in the city. You'll need to cab it in and out.

Not sure how you would go getting a reservation these days, I've always found this very small French/Mediterranean restaurant to be difficult to get a table, being told on a few occasions after it became ' popular ' in the press, that I had to book 6 months in advance !

Things might have toned down a bit since then, worth a call, because if you can get a table it will be quite an enjoyable/memorable evening. Perfect for an anniversary dinner with your significant other.

I agree One Thirty One is very pretty - only has 4 tables inside. But, it's $1200 PER person.

I'd suggest Cepage but also is $1200/per person (but you get 1 glass of wine )

There is Zuma, it can be within your budget. Zuma :: Contemporary Japanese Cuisine

My favorites are in Sheung Wan, the little small romantic restaurants. Also, private kitchens. The price is better and it's intimate. Here's some for about 500-800 per person.

Try: Trattoria Doppio Zero G/F, The Pemberton, 22 Bonham Strand, Sheung Wan

    Thanks for the tips.

We're staying in Quarry Bay if that makes a difference.

While the food is good, there are better steaks in HK than Wooloomooloo. However if you are going to check it out their TST Prime location has a great view back over HK island, book a table early and make sure you request by the window.

If I were you I would check out a Hong Kong institution on Sunday the 9th - champagne brunch. All the big hotels here do high quality food with unlimited champagne for about $700-$1000 per head including service and it usually lasts for around 3 hours from between 11-4 (check each one for start/finish times). Each one differs in how it's set up but the food is usually excellent and it's great fun. If it's your first time here I'd recommend either the Intercontinental at TST or Totts at the Excelsior as both brunches are good and they have fantastic views. Again, book early and request a table with a view.

Not quite what you asked for but something a bit different if you're new in town and will certainly be memorable!

    G_Raffo...

Give us an idea of what sort of special date/anniversary restaurants you've enjoyed prior to moving to Hong Kong, in the past. Website, or name of restaurant and location so I can check em out online to get an idea of what aspects you like.
