    No, we did not. I even offered at the cash register, saying that would have been a better alternative to grabbing my wrist and cursing me. But her response was still "I don't know" which really meant "I can't be bothered."

    When we order dim sum usually two or three people order.

    If a dish arrives that I didn't order I'd ask the others did you order this?

    Then take it from there.

    It's common sense, It's not the restaurants fault that you're not concentrating.

    Yes the staff could of handled it better but if you're going to a cheap dim sum place don't expect customer service.
    If you want customer service then go to the four seasons etc

    It seems very odd that one needs to check that you get the right order! I wouldn't have a clue. I rarely know what I ordered anyway at dim sum places!

    So you were informed that you were given the wrong dish, and to the waiting staff's fault they didn't take t away, but then you decided to try to eat it anyway by reaching for it again?

    If the waiting staff didn't remove the dish after telling me I had eaten food because of their mistake, I'd assume they were either giving it to us for free, or that I'd pay for it at the end, either way, yes I would continue eating it

    When I ran a restaurant, granted in was in the US, if a dish hit a table and it was something that wasn't ordered, it would either stay there or go back to the kitchen due to sanitary reasons.. no matter if it was touched by someone on the table or not.. but again, as I mentioned, that was not in Hong Kong..

    That's exactly what I was thinking. At this point, I was not against paying for it, since we had indeed made the mistake of not concentrating (as Jimbo would have) more on our food than our conversation. It had already been eaten more than half-way through. It's not like they could take it back and serve it again.

    What happened? As far as I have seen from my two visits there The Optimist does not have many if any local staff so it can't be a 'local' thing there. The owners are Spanish/Italian, i'm sure if you were to file a complaint they will compensate you accordingly.

    The Pawn also has a multi national staff. Why were you discriminated against?
