    Dai Pai Dong streets

Are there really any Street Food areas left in HKG? I recall Temple St. had a few places. Spring Garden Lane in Wan Chai offered some tasty bites. Sai Kung off the main plaza had a little maze of area for interesting eats. Anything else that's not a Cooked Food Market?

Tai Po Market cooked food center. Rent is subsidized by the gov't so the food is a lot cheaper and better because their bottom line is lower. Just went yesterday for some fried beef noodles and it was the best I've had in a long time - definitely beats out Tsui Wah.

If you're looking for cooked dishes with rice, Shamshuipo / Shekipmei. Been there a few times with local friends. Not sure what the address is. Decent hot cooked dishes like sweet and sour pork and stir-fried Chinese beef. There are also those "famous" places around Central, like the tomato noodles at Gough St. Personally never understood why those Central places are so popular for stuff that can easily be whipped up at home!

See if you can reverse engineer one of the walking foodie tours (google has a couple of them that are very very well rated).

A bulk of the dai pai dong places are just "ok" - nothing special. But you knew that already!

Yeah. I think that's part of the challenge. I have friends who are visiting Asia's World City and they want street food that rivals Taipei or S'pore and I'm not sure HKG can deliver.

Just send them to Crystal Jade and be done with it! The location in CWB, below Times Square could pass as being a "street".

This one also comes to mind -

Send them to a good Char Sui place - that is one thing this town seems to do better than other places.
