    Yunnan & Xinjiang Food

    Hi All,

Desperately searching for Yunnan and Xinjiang food options here in HK, especially Kowloon side.
Not just looking for noodles! I want the fried goat cheese, lotus root, potatoes and mint salads (yunnan) and mutton and lamb everything (Xinjiang).

Any recommendations? Have searched openrice and yelp and found only Yunnan Rainbow in Causeway Bay.

    Cheers!

Are you perhaps under the misperception that you moved back to China?

    Hong Kong is not China!

Kowloon City has an excellent Chinese Muslim place with lots of great Xinjiang dishes!

True. I love lotus root. Fried goats cheese, I have not found. There are a few canteens that serve typical regional food, but beeing south of China, close to HK, not so spicy. You can find these in Shenzhen, but all are meat, meat and more meat driven. Spicy, yes. I don't eat this being vegetarian, but have seen these restaurants.

Oh yes. I would go there from time to time. It was pretty good.

I love Ma's Restaurant on Cheung Sha Wan Road, Mong Kok. Not quite Xinjiang or Yunnan but Muslim food, plenty of lamb and spice. Cumin beef, chilli chicken, The veal goulash dumplings are amazing.
