seafood restaurants (alternative to cheung chau island)

    Hi All

My parents are here and they have really enjoyed cheung chau island seafood in the past. However, I want to avoid the ferry trip if possible.

Please can you recommend some alternatives which are similar quality and similar priced ? Preferebly somewhere I can drive....
I really want to avoid the expensive overpriced ones...so please help fid something comparable to cheung chau

    thanks a lot!

Try Po Toi O, nice drive there, free parking and cheaper than Sai Kung.

    There are two restaurants there.

Fat Kee and Seafood Islands. We usually go to Seafood Islands. I found a youtube video below

The locals have a not so bad set up where they make you park on the side of the road and has a minibus van pick you up to take you back down, you get a valet parking ticket which you ask the restaurant to chop for ya so the service is free.

    See example lol

Driving from Lantau lol, that would have been nice to know in your 1st post ha ha

Food wise I think its ok, I've been with locals and westerners and they both liked it so I cant tell you for sure if its just as good as Cheung Chau as its very subjective wouldnt want you coming back at me saying my recommendation was SHIT

You can try Lau Fau Shan if your driving from Lantau, loads of sea food restaurants there as well, just pick the one that is most crowded

Another recommendation is Aberdeen Fish Market.

Not a fan of Po Toi O. The area and restaurants are pretty run down. Sai Kung or Lei Yue Mun are way better. Also the last time we were there the guys on the road ask for a restaurant receipts or parking ticket for parking on public space on the road. Pretty ridiculous.

Lau Fau Shan is pretty good.

It's not cheap either! Pretty expensive for a restaurant that doesn't even have a decent toilet or even soap. :/

thanks so I have shortlisted Lei Yu Mun and Lau Fau Shan

please help me decide based on

    1. ease of car parking
    2. the feel of the area
    3. price

    thanks!

i see no reason to travel to the middle of nowhere when most of the seafood we eat are flown in and not bought in by boat.
