Shocking, horrible news.
So true. Take Spade, all the money in the world, all the friends telling her she needs help, but refuses as it may "devalue the brand"
Something terrible wrong and sad about that.
If the powers to be really want to take mental health seriously they should start with the insurance companies. Most refuse to cover mental health, and that alone sends out the wrong message to the afflicted.
I suffer from severe depression and PTSD.
Some input for those who may, now or in the future, suffer from depression and also for those who don't.
You can be happy AND suffer from depression.
Life can be going great AND you suffer from depression.
My life is good, I am very happy. I think about suicide, fleetingly, probably 5 times a week. (Before the excellent NHS intervention which undoubtedly saved my life, probably 5 or more times a day, very severe and long lasting).
Some input from the several professionals who helped me:
The question is not why bad things are happening in your life but why you can't cope with them emptionally when other people can? What is the root cause of that? Get to that and we can help you. This is where professionals can really help.
And the one that really helped me understand, "the thoughts are real, they are also incorrect". So when I have "bad thoughts" I just call them bollocks and carry on being happy. To get to this stage though took time and professional help, and getting the right medication (which I don't need anymore).
If you are suffering GET HELP. You are not being stupid, you are not being weak.
