What Hong Kong restaurant do you think would have been in the running for this list?

Much to my surprise, I've been to one of the restaurants on this list (number 36). I recall that the decor was really good, and the food was... fairly decent.

Perhaps it's part of my hillbilly Aussie upbringing, but I've never been blown away by food from really seriously upmarket restaurants- the best food I've had anywhere has been in random roadside restaurants in Italy.

The best food I've had in Hong Kong is probably Lardos in Hang Hau, but as that's 1) steak and 2) not real flash, probably doesn't count for much in terms of HK restaurants.

Haven't even heard of these restaurants before, and seems like most of them are in Europe. Who votes for it?

FYI - AFP: Spain's El Bulli named best restaurant in world

The restaurant in Catalonia came top of the S. Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants 2009 following a poll of more than 800 chefs, restaurant critics and industry insiders for Restaurant Magazine.

Without any doubt, Bo Innovation should have been on that list. I've been to no. 37 and it was brilliant.

LHFF - Recall reading the news that the poll was taken before the virus scare.

I think the list is published by the Restaurant magazine:
Restaurant (magazine) Top 50 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Felix was #59 (Best in Asia) in 2008, and it was #17 in 2003.

I've been to a few of these (mostly in US and some in France), yes they were great, but I think that once you are in the top 100 or so, the differences are rather minimal and YMMV according to your personal taste, your mood, your company, the weather, etc...
