    SML Restaurant

    Unsolicited restaurant recomendation for everyone!

Went to a place called SML in Times Square's Food Forum on Saturday and it was really good.

The idea is you can get everything small (starter sized), medium (main sized) or large (to share). For anybody who, like me would usually rather have loads of starters than a usual starter-main combo this is a very good idea.

The food is Italian/Med style and is some of the best I've had since I've been in HK. A couple of the dishes needed salt but otherwise each one was great.

We ordered 3 small dishes, plus 2 small sides and 2 small deserts (which was enough for two of us) and with drinks the whole meal came to $340.

I'm of the opinion that you should share good experiences - hence the random restaurant review.

    Stu

Couldn't agree with you more there, I've been there twice now and the food has been really good both times.

Sunday we went as a group of 8 and the bill totalled $2050 and we pretty much had everything on the menu! haha

The Pork Belly and the Spicy Meatballs were the star of the show for me.
And of course not forgetting the chocolate pot as well.

Stu - We've been there a couple of times -- excellent food for sure.

    The meatballs were awesome.

Funnily enough we didn't try the meatballs! Will have to try those next time we go!

The oxtail rissotto was great though.

So instead of only the people who've gone making posts about their experiences at SML, how about some posts from people who would like to go or go again? I really want to try this place.

I'd like to check out SML as well. Anyone interested in going this Thursday, Oct. 8, for dinner?

The meatballs were good, but the beef carpaccio was much much better - it was pure melt-in-your-mouth excellence (and for what, $30?). I'd give the chocolate pot (or rather, all their puds) a miss though.

Also beware of their comedy "large" servings of wine. If what we had was "large" I dread to think what a "medium" or "small" would look like.

Great! Are you in for Thursday then? Say 7:30 pm?
If anyone else is interested just sign up by 11 am Thursday and I'll make the reservation.
ScotchDrinker - thanks for the recommendations!
