    Park Island Restaurants and Bars

I visited Park Island today with a view to renting an apartment.

I explored the island briefly but did'nt come across any bars or restaurants besides a few "food outlets" around the ferry pier.

Is that as good as it gets or did I miss them?

    Thanks

    that's all there is.
park island is a lovely overcrowded plot of land with too many residents and not enough shop/resteraunts/grocers.

but... we do have the amazing Noah arc and mawan park.

my suggestion.... unless you are looking for budget apartments that aren't super old/dirty.... go anywhere else

"Super old" on Park Island? The oldest places are only 7 years old. The newest about 3. That's hardly old.

I meant super old apartments elsewhere. the apartment quality is very high on park island with very low rental cost. I've yet to find comparable price quality outside park island. the problem is what is happening to the outside common areas.

Such a shame, is there a local law /governance preventing this or do potential restaurants / bars owners consider it a bad investment?

Yep, I'm looking for a budget apartment that isn't super old/dirty so I may have to opt for Park Island and live without the social convenience. I guess it's only a ferry ride away if I need to sit on a sidewalk cafe and enjoy a expresso or grappa while watching the world go by.
Do they frown on residents sitting on the beach drinking wine / beer or whatever? i.e Can I have my own version of an outdoor cafe without breaking the rules?

there's also a few down at the bus terminal beach side (closer to noah's ark): cafe roma is pretty good with some beats occasionally, plus there's a thai and something else. a german restaurant is about to open there, i was told.

on the backside of PI there are a few restaurants in the village as well.

Ha ha yes, bring your own table.

I guess you could always walk over to the old village and see if there is anything on the harbour there.

Who needs a table on the beach? Sorry I'm an ozzy, the beach needs only a picnic basket, towel, bug spray, sunscreen.

What about Coffee, can I at least buy that before boarding the ferry?

You can purchase coffee and hot tea at the restaurants or bakery (is it still there?) near the pier.

If you go to the beach at night, you'll see several beer cans and bottles. :P
