    Guam vs Dubai

I am planning for a trip in June and would like to tie in some shoppings in between sightseeing. Any comment?

dubai has virtually no public transport and it's impossible to walk anywhere...great taste of the middle east meets the west though...much like hk is the far east mets the west...

shopping is so so if you;re into high end products....asia is better for bargains.

great beaches ...though a little rough and the sand coarse....

never been to guam but this is what i heard.

guam is little american hawaii meets little japan...full of japanese...great untouched beaches...very comercialised...lacking in culture...prob good for dining and maybe shopping but products are not for bargain hunters...

in light of these, i'd say okinawa is prob a better bet...

    Guam vs Dubai

Hotels in Guam are quite old and there has not been any new development since the last typhoon (about 2-3 years ago) . If you are looking for a short trip I would say go to Guam as Guam is closer to Hong Kong. Prices are not cheap though, everything is in US dollars and you have to go through US secruity check.
Try the Outrigger Hotel, that's a nicer, newer hotel in Guam and is right in the centre of the Guam shopping and nightlife area. Beside there's not much sightseeing either. The most famous landmark is the Two Lover's Point and there's the Talofofo river where the Japanese soldier Shoichi Yokoi hided for 28 years thinking that the World War II was still going on.

For Dubai, hotels are swankier and the duty free shopping is actually much better than Guam, except the flights are longer.

Dubai is definitely better than Guam in all aspects - though pricier as well.
