Wink Need a vacation this week....Thailand?

my wife and i are looking to go on a short unplanned vacation the second half of this week for a 4 night trip away. We are scrambling to decide where to go...

we want somewhere new....so we decided on Thailand since we haven't been yet.

We arent into partying or clubbing, but want some activities. We were hoping a really nice beach (anything like boracay?) with some good snorkeling and swimming and relaxing. but at same time be able to take a few hour excursion to hike around nice scenic mountain or islands....or see some temples or animals....

is Phuket the best option? I read now is good time to go as less crowded and great weather and cheap prices.
can someone recommend a resort or specific location in thailand they would recommend?

edit: nevermind.....i was considering cape sienna, but realized they do not have a private beach.

would prefer something with private beach, or at least beach front

phuket isnt quiet and relaxing at least not where i went. I remember when i was travelling in thailand i went to ko phi phi (thats a boat ride from phuket) and there was another little island there which was like a honeymoon island or something.

I regretted it being a single traveller at the time but i remember thinking it'd be nice to take a girl there!

There's a cryptic suggestion! And on phi phi itself there is some diving and stuff. And phi phi has no cars, its small and quiet.

i dont need to be in phuket...and it doesnt have to be super quiet.
im just looking for semi private beach (clean and clear), decent resort facilities, some water activities, some light hiking, and in thailand.

if you recommend phi phi islands...which place would you recommend?

You should research yourself, I dont trust my memory and don't want to be responsible if you don't like the place. Come to think of it phi phi was quite a 'natural' kind of island, i liked it for that reason but it's not like a super modern resort area.

I remember ko samui was a slightly more upmarket place, not as tacky as phuket. But there are probably some nicer areas in phuket than where i went, too

Samui had the likes of starbucks and stuff to keep the westerners happy. But it's over 4 years ago I'm talking about so I'd suggest you look on some websites or wait for a better response!

Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort & spa

ive checked the site and the reviews...and it sounds amazing.
just wondering if anyone here has had actually experience in this resort or can recommend a decent place to go.

Out of interest, why? That really cuts down your choices.

well...i just dont like the crowded beaches, where the lounge chairs are dirty or unavailable. When staying for such a short trip, i would prefer to have less crowd and more comfort.

also, usually the public beaches have much more hawkers and annoying people buggin me to buy crap....that i dont want to deal with.

but...again...im open to any suggestions. im just looking to book urgently so i can finalize plans.

Yeah a private beach is good. Stops all the hawkers selling their gawdy trinkets and also the ladyboys selling their gawdy trinkets too!
