    Cambodia Visa Question

The Cambodian Consulate are not answering their phone. Does anyone know how long it takes to get a visa here in HK?

Apparently, it is a nightmare getting a visa on arrival in Siem Reap. Huge queues!

I have done it twice (once in Phnom Phen and once in Siem Riep) and it was pretty quick. I might have just been licky but I think the generally accepted practise is to get it when you arrive.

    Hello
I went to get the visa in TST (Star House), it took less than an hour (Tel:25460718), or you can try online

Actually I found the online service last night and it is fantastic.

Lodged application online at 10.30pm and has already been processed and approved by 12noon the next day.

You have to upload a passport sized photo but it's pretty easy...just take one with digi camera (or use an existing one) and then re-size.

They have guidelines on the site for how close/near you need to be to the camera etc.

    Brilliant service.

    Hi all!
i'm looking for a travel agent who arranges packages (flight + hotel) to Cambodia (a combo Phnom Penh + Siem Reap). Does anyone have a good address for me?

Try Westminster Travel. I just got back from Cambodia today. The Visas at Siem Reap cost $20USD. Make sure you have US currency and a passport photo and line up in the left hand queue first. Once you are in the correct queue it doesn't take much ltime, the airport is lovely it is quite amusing watching the process, make sure you check out the 'bank' when you get to the front of the line.

Take lots of new US currency in small denominations ie: $1, $5 & $10 are best. They don't like or accept crumpled currency and often don't have change plus you need lots of $1's for tipping and the beggars. Your generosity can go a long way.

Total loved the place - such charming, gentle people and amazing sights.

    Hi,

Just got back from Siem Reap yesterday. (Larac - we might have been on the same plane?) It is the most stunning place I have ever been to.

We looked into packages but none were available for when we wanted to go. In the end we booked a flight directly on Zuji (Siem Reap Airways direct from HK to Siem Reap) and stayed for 3 nights at a hotel friends of ours recommended (www.borann.com) and then 2 nights at another hotel (my husband needed broadband and a good phone line as he had to work for one day whilst we were away). The hotel was the 5 star Shinta Mani.

In my view it is soooooh not worth paying the money for a 5 star hotel. The atmosphere is not there and you could be anywhere in the world. I recommend Borann as it has clean rooms and a really nice feel...plus everything else is way cheaper from the smaller hotels i.e the cab from the airport, the tuk tuks that wait outside, the food, drinks and tours.

Anyway, by booking it direct we actually ending up paying less and I believe a much better experience.
