Yes - total journey time give or take a few minutes. You are able to check in for many flights from Shenzhen airport at the Cross border Bus Terminal at Kowloon Station, so arriving one hour before the flight departure time at Shenzhen Airport is usually ok.

Here is the bus schedule. They actually quote 75 minutes journey time, but in my experience it is closer to 100 mins.

It's quicker and easier to use HKIA, but you are saving money using Shenzhen airport.

I promise that if you go to Beijing in winter (up to March/April), you will redefine the word cold (think Moscow without as much snow).

I'm from the North East of Scotland originally, so i have been used to -15deg's from time to time! So i'm not too worried about the 'cold'. I'm quite looking forward to winter here as i have heard everyone is wrapped up but its about 10deg!!!

Some folk don't know what cold is

Thanks for the advice about trains/buses. I know taking the MTR from Hung Hom to Lo Wu is the shenzhen border crossing, then bus onto Shenzhen airport...how long does this take in comparison with bus all the way (100mins)? Is border control worse via MTR time-wise?

    Thanks

Journey time is around the same if no hold up at the border. It's 45 mins on the MTR to Lo Wu, then 45 minutes in the white airport minibus (20 Rmb) - from the bus station to the right after immigration. The Lo Wu border does get more crowded though.
