Has anyone ever heard of 5J Airlines? Is it safe? I just had some check with our travel agent for a round trip flight to Cebu. Cathay was $3040 and 5J is $1400. I like the cheap price, but not if it is unsafe.

5J Airlines, is Cebu Pacific Air. you can check out their website for more infor. http://www.cebupacificair.com/
Mostly a lot of helpers fly 5J, as they are significantly cheaper than Cathay or PAL. I've flown them several times and have had no problems. they are extremely no frills, you don't get a meal or peanuts with the flight ala Southwest Airlines in the US.

Cebu Pacific are great - I've flown them a lot over the last year. They have the youngest fleet in the Philippines - all brand new Airbus A320s, great cabin crew and customer service. You get a bottle of ice tea or lemonade for free and can buy other snacks. They also let you change your ticket dates and times, something PAL wont let you do if you buy a discount ticket.
