help! passport through the washing machine

    Happened to Mr Movingin07 last year. Also an aussie passport - they just don't survive the wash! He had to fill in the forms but it took a week or so to get a new one I think - no hassle just took time (but he didn't try to get it faster because he has a UK passport too so it wasnt such a drama). Also no hassle with immigration - just explained the situation and got the work visa put in the new passport.

    Ok - it is all sorted - the oz embassy got me an emergency passport which i will be picking up this afternoon! cost me $HK700 so a lesson learnt - check your pockets before washing cloths!

    my next drama will be convincing the dragons at quantas down in australia that i am a HK resident when i fly back to hk without a return ticket. will leave that fight for another day though.

    They only need to see your ID card, not your visa. I've travelled on a passport with no visa and just the ID card on numerous ocassions.
