Avoid the Chunking Mansion hostel like the plague! I had friends who stayed there and told me horror stories about it!

Some places in Chungking Mansions are actually fine. There are plenty of good hostels and guesthouses in and around TST.

i lived in a hostel in chungking mansions for about 6 months... i had a sparkling clean room with a tiny, tiny private bath. i paid $180/night.. but that was about 1995... things may have changed since then.
