What's your favourite place in China?

I would like some ideas for places to visit in China (I’m planning my holidays for the year ) for between 2-7 days.

    What’s your favourite place(s)?
    What’s interesting about it?
What is there to see or do?
Is there a restaurant, dish or drink that you would recommend?
How many days would be enough?

    Any good Sichuan Restaurant!

    Places, Lijiang, Yangshuo, Beijing, Zhangjiajie.

But if you haven't been to Beijing then you should go. Forbidden Place, Tianamen Square, Great Wall, Summer Place are worth it.

I've been to Beijing already and to Yangshou/Guilin, Xi'an, Beihai. Thanks for your suggestions.

Lijiang and Zhangjiajie looks interesting - how many days worth of things are there to see/do?

Depends on what you do in Lijiang. 1-2 days Lijiang, 2-3 days for leaping tiger gorge and other places around there.

Zhangjiajie is 2-3 days but a guide would be worth it there. Not many foreigners go but it's amazing.

    Where Avatar was filmed.

    Also you could try Huangshan.

Or nearer to Hong Kong there are the Yongding Toulous and the Kaiping Diaolous.

Yunnan has lots of places to see, as does Sichuan.

    Huangshan doesn't compare.

    It's big.

Great walking tracks, it's huge with so many sites. You can stay in a local home overnight and then continue on before the crowds!

In terms of natural scenery it's by far the best place in China I have been to.

There is also Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong; both have pretty amazing scenery.

My favourites are Lijiang and Harbin (during the ice festival).
Lijiang is great for atmospheric old town, scenery and hiking around towwn, proximity to tiger leaping gorge.

Harbin ice festival is unique - go in january though.

been to Lijiang, frankly, i didn't like it, totally fake and commercialized. Dali would be a better choice.

for 2-7 days, i would say go to chengdu and emeishan. Emei takes about 3-4 days alone if you hike from the bottom. it was the best thing i did in china, also saw the sunrise from there.
