Venetian Macau Vs Grand Hyatt at Macau

I am getting similar deal from captioned two iconic hotels at Macau for 13 / 14 May

    Venetian HKD 1350 per night
    Hyatt HKD 1550 per night

Each one is Room only and nothing else.

    which would you suggest

Venetian is getting tired and stinks of cigarette smoke even the 'non smoking rooms'

Never tried the Hyatt so can't comment on that.

I think it depends what kind of hotel you want. Are you looking for a hotel with casino? There are some nice independent options, without the casinos, without the crowds, and without the smoky rooms, and a little cheaper, if you like - Pousada De Coloane and Pousada de Mong-Há for example.

You said it for me, Drumbrake. I was going to suggest option (c) neither of the above.

I've stayed at the Hyatt (City of Dreams) and would happily go back.

Large room, clean, good service, non smoking room didn't stink of cigarettes and good facilities.

I would highly recommend Pousada de Mong-Há, stayed there over the Easter weekend. It's under HKD 1000 a night (breakfast included), and around 10 minutes away from the casinos. They have a limited number of rooms though, so you have to book in advance.

I vote c) too. I prefer the Westin - more laid back and no casino's!

But if forced to choose between those two, I'd go for the Venetian if it's your first visit. It's pretty impressive done once.

The Hyatt is walking distance to the Venetian and it's actually a nice view if you can get it to see the Venetian from your room, rather than staying in the Venetian and overlooking City of Dreams.

We stayed at the Hyatt and ate and visited the Venetian. Best of both worlds.
