    i hate asia mile

has anyone been disappointed by asia miles before? i am really frustrated by this ridiculous program.

aisa mile was set up to be an added value program to encourage frequent flier to use the service more and benefit from it. in fact, i never benefit from it because the system simply sucks:

    1. you never get your membership card unless you claim first (question is, how could you claim without knowing your number? are we all supposed to write down the number and have it always ready whenever we fly with those airlines)?
    2. if you miss claiming your flight, you have to write to the airline to claim the mileage. (question is who actually got the time for it? and you have to have all your boarding passes to show them as well.)

    3. when you want to complain about the program, you don't have a channel. even when you call the hotline saying you would like to complain, guess what, the CS just tells you to go to the cathay airline website to fill in the complain form. how direct is it??(well, if you ever go to the website, you'll know how 'user-friendly' the website is. i spent about 3 min to find the CR feedback form and am still not sure if it's the channel for me to complain)

i am wondering why my former company always flew with cathay and my current one always flies with dragonair. the inflight service sucks too!!!

    1. When you sign up online you are given your membership number. If you sign up using the paper forms on board or at check-in then there is a temporary card with your membership number.

    2. I don't see how the airline is supposed magically to work out that you took a flight if you don't tell them your membership number. How exactly are you suggesting they do this?

I suggest that the reason you don't benefit from this programme is that you are disorganised and incompetent. I have quite happily earned very nearly 2M AsiaMiles and spent over 1.6M of them.

    3. If your complaint isn't worth 3 minutes of your time then it obviously can't be a very serious complaint.

CX's in-flight service seems pretty good to me. It isn't perfect, but I can't think of any service organisation that is.

    *yawn*

    getting really predictable..

someone complains, the residence defender appears.. etc.etc...

for all our disgust with the same line or argument, what said here is actually quite true.
almost every frequent flyer program is run this way and asiamiles do have its good points. the only problem is probably that too many ppl have too many points and its just too hard to use them if you are a budget traveller.

the OP's complaint really don't have much ground.

I don't see why OP complained. Asia Miles is not perfect, but it is not bad:
    * Issue #1 - Everyone in my family has an Asia Miles account. We did not encounter any inconvenience about the procedure.
    * Issue #2 - We all did missing miles claims before. The process was not really time-consuming.
    * Issue #3 - I have not experienced this yet.

Asia Miles is not that bad

I guess we all see things our way.

I got thousands of mileages points from UA, Singapore Airlines, Asia Miles, Air Mauritius, Air France...

I lost thousands of points due to "time decay" (or whatever you wanna call it) I even paid sometimes to keep the miles only to loose them later.

Most Mileages programs are just "bad" unless you really fly a lot with one or two companies only (something I cannot do because one Airline won't go to all the places I have to visit) you will not really get the cool benefits (e.g. free tickets, seat upgrade...).

I gave up some of my membership (e.g. UA) I even boycot some Airlines (like Singapore Airlines because I had thousands of points I had no way to use, I even asked them to just give me a bag or something but got nothing). I don't like CX btw but Asia Miles is the only program where I got something out of my mileages points. One is my DVD/MP4/DivX Player and the other is my Sandisk memory stick.

What other programs would give you cool stuff? Also watch the "point $ value ratio" the one from Asia Miles is one of the best I know.

    Just my two cents.

well, regarding your point #2, i prefer mabuhay miles by philippine airlines. if i forgot to book my flight for miles, all i have to do is log on online and give my date of flight and flight number. no hassle of faxing the boarding pass that i encountered with my asia miles.

also, i have this very annoying experience with cathay last year. i had my flight to manila confirmed a week earlier, and when i was checking in, they told me it isnt confirmed and they cant give me any seats. this was really infuriating. im not late, and was checking in like 2 hours before my flight. they transferred to another airlines going on at the same time that day so no big deal, and told me that my asia miles will be credited for that. but they DIDN'T at all! tried calling the hotline afterwards but i don't have any proof to show as my boarding pass is not a CX!

so the point is? all flight programmes has its pros and downsides. it depends on individuals case-to-case basis.

If my Asia miles for a CX flight is not credited to my account I just fill out the on line form on the Asia miles website with flight date number and seating class and press send then in a short while they are credited to my account. Not sure what the fuss is really
