    San Francisco

When is the cheapest time of the year for flights?

When is a good time to visit if one wanted relatively warm/sunny weather?

This is where the app "skyscanner" for android and iphone comes in handy. Select from HK to San Francisco departing anytime and it shows you little bar graph of every day and the price. It seems that departing on March 10th and returning March 14th is the cheapest over the next few months.

"The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco."

    Probably Mark Twain.

Ha ha - that is a great quote but I know what he means. The summers are great between 10am to 3-4pm, and then it starts getting chilly! Which by the way is a climate that is great for the wines in Napa and Sonoma

First off, its never really "warm and sunny in San Francisco. Summertime can be quite cold and foggy with September-October probably best weather of year. January through March can be extremely wet, with occasional warm days. San Francisco weather depends entirely on the ocean currents and the jet stream winds which are not always predictable. I have traveled from SF to Hong Kong in January, April, July, October, and December with flights at similar prices. Book early for best deals. If you have not been there, its definitely worth the trip.

SF's slogan: 'Can you spare a dollar, man?'.
