    The flights to Perth are a killer. They all involve some redeye flights and the budget airlines have really bad flight times and huge lay overs. I always prefer to just pay the extra for Cathay because it is direct and at least one way is not redeye.

    Concur wholeheartedly! And besides, once you get to Perth it's another 5 hours to Sydney and the domestic flights are not at all cheap.

    Just looked at various prices and direct seems to be the best option.

    Cathay/Qantas direct $6500
    Discount Airlines (with connections) $5500
    AirAsia fm Macao (with connections) $4900
    Direct is around 7.5 hours...all the others are over 12h..
    Nothing direct from Shenzhen. Infrequent service from Guangzhou.
