Shenzhen border /5-day visa - UK passport

I'm heading up to Shenzhen in a week or so with some friends who have UK passports. I read online that UK passports are eligible for the Shenzhen visa, though from what I recall it seems to be on again / off again. I seem to recall that you can get them at Lo Wu but not at Lok Ma Chau.

Has anyone gotten a Shenzhen 'border visa' recently with a UK passport?

Or does anyone have an official website that lists which countries are / are not eligible?

I believe the cost is 468 Rmb for a Shenzhen 5 day visa, so quite an expensive trip. I haven't had to get that visa recently, but when it is halted, generally news gets around fast. The main country that cannot get it is the US, plus other places where China does not have good relations at the moment.

I'd probably play on the safe side and get a full visa in advance. Only takes a day through an agent, and cost will be similar.

I have just returned from Hong Kong. A useful official contact number there to enquire about the Shenzhen visa is 2673 9070. Cost for a UK passport holder at the border was HK$300.

That is the number for the Lo Wu Border CTS Office?

Is that a full China visa or a Shenzhen visa? If a full one, how many days? How long did it take to process?

I was given this number in January 2012 by the CTS office in Mongkok. I rang them to ask for the cost of a Shenzhen border visa for a UK passport. He told me HK$300 - I didn't ask how many days as I only wanted to go for the day. I didn't actually make the trip as I was travelling with a French passport holder which couldn't be issued this visa. Hope this helps somebody.

A SZ border visa for a UK passport holder is RMB468 as stated above. This is for a 5 day, single entry SEZ visa.
