Zhu Hai Jiuzhou ferry port- entry visas available?

    Hi all,

I'm a UK passport holder and I know that there's entry visas available at the gong bei/macau land border, but I'm not sure if they're available at the Zhu Hai ferry terminal. Then I could just take the ferry from HK to China and not have to worry about getting a visa beforehand.

I tried calling the Chinese embassy in Hong Kong but they were busy for every minute of the last hour -_-. Can anybody help me clear this up?

    Thanks,
    WOOOOOOOOOOO buddy!

There is no Chinese embassy in Hong Kong SAR, China.

You mean the Commissioner's Office in Wan Chai presumably.
The Commissioner's Office of China's Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong SAR

    Visa information at that site.

You will need a China Visa before you go there I believe. Macau is entirely different as it too is a SAR of China and entry is similar to HK entry for UK folks.

Yes, that one. I remember when I used to live in Zhu Hai, China, that there was a arrow pointing to "visa office" when you get off the ferry- but I never tried it/had the need. Maybe I should try calling the Jiuzhou gang ferry office and talking to them directly.

I hope someone who really knows if I'm wrong comes on here. You might not get the right information by calling the ferry terminal place and hopefully you speak Mandarin.

Not sure why you don't just go to Wanchai and get it before you go. The place is full of expats every day. Takes 3 days IIRC for normal. They meet their timelines.

You used to be able to get a '5 day Zhuhai visa' (similar to the 5 day Shenzhen visa); I'm not sure if it is still possible or not. I'd recommend getting a visa in advance; cost is similar.

That is about a full Chinese visa, not the 5 day visa which might be available.

no, that's a 5 day. It got lost in translation. I did a search for 5 day limitation and came out with this
    广东省落地签证公 ®‰åŽ…å‡ºåˆ°æ¸¯ç®¡ç†å¤ å…±æœ‰11ä¸ªè½åœ°ç¾è¯ç ‚¹ and this
    å¤–åœ‹äººä¾†è¯å¯ä»¥è¾ ç†å£å²¸ç°½è‰Â·å»£æ± œæ”¿åºœé–€æˆ¶ç¶²ç«™

Apparently there IS such services in Jiuzhou, sorry bout that. Contradicting information from different government dept.

As for the 5 days/3 days/ restricted to the particular city. Please see enclosed news article. (as usual, use google translator or something similar)

As I understand it, foreign passport holders cannot usually get a full Chinese visa at the Chinese border, unless there are certain specific circumstances - official invitation from a government body, or to complete a business contract (but the Chinese company will need to have the right connections), or for emergencies such as funerals.

The 5 day visa is something different. It is only available in certain cities, and not for all nationalities. It is only valid for the city where the visa was issued. So, if you get a 5 day Shenzhen visa, you should not leave Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. This is generally only a problem if you enter through one port, and then exit through another- like those Australians did. Or if you use the Shenzhen visa to do a trip to Guangzhou and then stay in a hotel overnight- again the PSB would see that you do not have the right visa, so you would have a problem.
