Fly from HK to Sydney cheap

Are there any frequent Aussie travelers that know how to get a cheap round trip ticket to Sydney? I will be going there around the Christmas holiday so nothing will be cheap but any suggestions are appreciated.

you could always fly from Macau, there is a budget airline that does direct flights to Sydney (just can't remember the name, sorry)

Yeah, sounds about right. I checked a few months ago and the prices were 50-75% more than non-peak times
Check out Cathay Pacific, Qantas and Virgin Atlantic for comparisons. The cheapest flights will be into Sydney, although Qantas And Cathay fly direct to other cities, but not as often.

If anyone knows where I can find cheaper, please help. I am a fresh grad and $1100USD is a lot of money to spend on my current bankroll. Which is steadily growing slow.

Try playing around with some dates on http://www.zuji.com. I immediately managed to find Philippine Airlines flights at HK$6600+tax for departure 22/12, return 5/1, for example.

But I don't think you're going to get, say, HK$4000+tax around that time of year.

that sounds very expensive to me, are you sure it wasn't HK dollars (or perhaps Aus)?
