Question Canadians going to Shenzhen - Visa?

OK, I realize Shenzen-Visa questions have been well worked over but I am still a little confused because I keep reading conflicting information. Some places say Americans are the only ones who can't but other places say Brits can't either and I can't seem to find the "official" information anywhere!

Can Canadians get a Shenzen visa at the border (from what I understand it lasts 5 days but costs considerably less than what the China visas you get in HK). I am hoping to get some clothes tailored so would need a visa that allows re-entry within those 5 days.

Have any Canadians (or anyone who traveled with a Canadian) traveled to Shenzen and know for sure this is allowed? I am a HK ID card holder if that makes a difference.

Any info or experiences would be most appreciated!

Canadians are not Brits or Americans. So you are not reading any conflicting information.

    1. You may get a visa at the Lo Wu or Huang Gang Borders upon arrival. Both offices are open during the day however Lo Wu has longer hours. Cost is $150 for five days.
NOTE: Five days means you can stay five days, it does not mean re-entry for five days. It is good for one time entry and they will put a pen mark across your visa to show it's cancelation when you go through the checkpoint.

    2. If you are planning on going twice than maybe just do the visa upon arrival twice, if more than twice just go get a 6 month visa for $400.

That was very kind, necessary and thoughtful of you to point out. The conflict comes from the fact that some people say Americans are the only people who can't get the visa at the border. If Brits are also unable to that diverges with the default theory that ALL other passport BESIDES Americans are able to. Therefore there is no reason for anyone to assume they can obtain one at the border, unless they know specifically what rules apply for their passport.

Thank you for the information about the visa - it was very helpful.
