    Question train to/from shenzhen airport

    hello,

I'm about to book a flight to get out of HK for a couple of days this Christmas. Flying via shenzhen is a lot cheaper I found out, but I can't find any decent info on how to get to, and especially from, Shenzhen airport back to HK again. I'm specifically interested in timetables. Already tried to look at KCRC's website, but it's not online (at least not the english part). Does anybody have an idea on until what time the trains from shenzhen to HK depart??? my flight arrives at shenzhen at 23.05 (1105 pm).
    Thanks!

There are no trains to SZ airport yet, the metro system will expand to there in the future but that is probably 2-3 years away.

The best way to get to SZ airport is taking a ferry direct to Fu Yong (SZ airport ferry terminal).

    Try here for details http://www.turbojet.com.hk/turbojet_sailing_rev.htm

There are also buses direct to the airport from the SZ Bay crossing but I have had no experience of taking these.

    Question

thanks for the reply, but the frequency of these ferries is rather low, with the last one only sailing at 19.30... did i mention i land at shenzhen at 23.10?

anybody have an idea on travelling time and costs for taking a taxi from shenzhen airport to Lo Wu (east rail) station??

    Thanks

Hate to be pedantic but you actually said 23:05

Must admit though I did overlook that fact, not sure what to suggest but maybe someone will have an idea. You may have to look into the economics of your "cheap" ticket again...

    lol. ok. 23.05.
but economically speaking - flying via shenzhen saves me around HKD 6000 (!!!)
guess i'll ask around a bit more.
    thnks for the effort though

Lo Wu is not really an option for you - they're not open 24 hours. Your best bet is to take a taxi from Shenzhen airport to Huang Gang (Lok Ma Chau). That border crossing is open 24 hours and has frequent bus services to Hong Kong.
Not quite sure how much the taxi fare would be, it should be something around 200RMB but don't quote me on that.

Well a HKD6000 saving is well worth the extra hassle of using SZ.

I wouldn't have thought there were any flights out of SZ that cost ~6000 never mind would save that much.... could be wrong though

Took a taxi from Lo Wu to the airport, cost was some 150 yuan including the expressway toll. I landed in SHZ again at 22:50 and easily made it in time to Lo Wu to get the last KCR train back (I live at the KCR line in the New Territories), taxi ride took like 40 minutes and getting through the customs at the airport and the border was really quick, the areas for foreigners are totally deserted at these hours. Maybe you better just stay overnight

With that much saving, why dont you book one of those luxury cross border vehicles, they can pick u up from your house in HK and drive you all the way to SZ airport and book them to pick you back up when u come back. Saves u loads of hassle. I think it costs 1k each way. You will still save 4K. if you need a phone number PM me, we use this van once or twice a week to go to china.
