    Beijing problems?

We will be going to Beijing at the end of October. Would anyone have any insight or experience whether the government could or might impose any kind of restrictions on foreigners during the special congress for the leadership transition?

I have no intent to crash their party but wanted to be sure that we don't get confined to certain areas or something...

My foreign colleagues in BJ don't expect any issues and I have several business trips planned to BJ over the period, not expecting any issues. Travel agent did tell us to make sure to have proof of hotel accommodation on landing as they received some sort of instruction that we may be asked for it when clearing immigration.

If you don't have a Chinese visa already, getting one is proving more difficult in many places (although Hong Kong still appears straightforward). Expect there to be even more tighter security than usual in and around Tiananmen Square. Maybe umbrellas will be used to stop you taking pictures.
