Korean resorts are cheaper than Japan, but the snow quality is really way below what you will find in the Japanese resorts.

    NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

Compare the ski pass prices between JP and US/CA - JP is WAY cheaper.

Example for a 1 day adult pass:
    Whistler C$99 = HK$ 780
    Happo Y4600 = HK$ 400

There are plenty of cheap options in JP too. And don't forget, the flight is cheaper too.

Aren't the slopes in KR rather short? I checked some piste plans and found them rather small.

That's what I heard too. Slopes are quite short. Please I checked some prices and it was really expensive. Knowing China, I wonder also about what equipment you can rent, and how is it maintained. And I wonder about the hospital infrastructure. In Japan hospitals in Hakuba are totally wintersport specialized - and no problem to pay with you credit card. Plus, they do treatment first, pay later. I doubt they do that in China.
