    macao hotels?

not sure if this is a right place to post.. but i will try..
planning to go to macao this weekend. I have stayed in venetian before.. its quite nice but a bit out of my budget. Can anyone suggest a good quality hotel within reasonable budget. My budget is around HKD 2k .. and want it somewhere near Venetian or near the casino's. I guess i will be hanging around in venetian.. so nearby. Thanks

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Macau when we went to see The House of Dancing Waters and found it well within a decent priced budget ( HK 2000$ no problem, I know we did not pay anywhere near that much but cannot remember the exact cost), good location - you can walk to the ferry terminal and tourist spots easily, plus taxis are a regularity nearby for the casinos. Why not email Holiday Inn Macau and see you if can get a last minute deal or package? Holiday Inns ( as part of IHG hotels) often do special rates for certain times.

I believe there are two Holiday Inns in Macau. One in the main part on Rua de Pequim, and one on Cotai. If you want near the Venetian, stay in the Cotai one.

Oops, I meant the Rue de Pequiem one. Didn't know there was one on the Cotai Strip. All the same, they are close to one another whether by shuttle or taxi or foot. ( and regardless if you smoke or not, all rooms are smoking- even if designated non smoking, guests, espc from the mainland still smoke in these rooms.)

We stayed at the Sheraton over the GP weekend and really liked it. Good size rooms, big club lounge, great service and very reasonably priced. Within your budget and right across the road from the Venetian.

I second the Holiday Inn Cotai, stayed there last year for a night. New, decent-sized rooms, fits the budget and is right across from The Ventian and beside the City of Dreams. And you can play roulette for HKD 50 minimum.

PS: Paid 1k for the night but this was off-peak (no holiday or weekend).
