    Balesin Island Club-beautiful, but $$$$$$.

I was asked to check this out for our upcoming holidays:

    http://www.iamasia.co/index.html

It looks spectacular, but don't like the fact there are no prices published.

An email is sent requesting prices, and is promptly answered requesting my phone number. Alarm bells now ringing.

Another email is sent requesting prices, this time the reply is " What information are you after?" pretty obvious I thought after two requests.

    The final answer:-

The Hong Kong membership is as follows:
USD $45,000 (Entrance) plus USD $1,00 (Annual) - 7 Villa Nights Membership Share

Please let me know if you require any more information.

    Kindest,

    Ellie

Now I know why they don't publish their prices online!

Any recommendation for similar places like this that are maybe not so luxurious? The beaches look gorgeous...looks like the accommodation is also quite private.

    Look up Badian Island.

Was there many years ago, very private and good food.

Three hour drive from the airport which is a bore.

Don't remember the price as being shocking.

The luxury is not there but there are similarities : we've been to CoCo beach 3 times and we love it there.

When they say " The cottages are furnished with a queen size bed, hammocks, separate bath and toilet, hot and cold water and a balcony." does that mean an en-suite bathroom? I found the Philippines to be a bit backwards in describing this, because most beach places also offer a sort of "public" beach, so "private" toilet just meant that day-time visitors couldn't use it, but it was still shared with a huge Filipino family that showed up magically at 8:00am to wake us up invading the toilet....
I actually find this place a bit pricey and wonder if there are a lot of noisy children in the rooms next door.

I've enjoyed a few times Banyan Tree. Not cheap though. Averages around US$400-$1000 a night.

Yeah, you guys are giving these recommendations to someone who just slept in a nipa hut on some random beach in the Philippines with no AC and in storms.... Maybe I need to get a change of partner. (Except I'm oddly proud of how frugal and how "roughing it" my partner can be...)

CoCo beach huts have no aircon and no hot water and is considered very frugal.
Look carefully and ye shall be surprised....
