Question TWOV 72 hrs HK - SHANGHAI - MACAU

    Hello,

I got the opportunity to join a workshop for three days in Shanghai on short notice.
I am not able to process a visa until wednesday.
Visa needs 4 working days for german passportholder. I called several agencies, none of them can make it in less than 4 days.

There's a loophole, but I am not sure whether it works.. Anyone has done this before:

    Hong Kong -
Shanghai getting the Transit without Visa 72 hours -
Travel to Macau as a third party region and then of course back to Hong Kong.

I have a HKID and one year visa (german national)
Of course I want to avoid trouble.

Please share your experience or ideas!

Are you saying that German passport holders can't use the next-working-day service from the visa office in Wanchai? I don't see anything on their website which suggests that, which means you should be able to apply on Monday morning, pick up your visa on Tuesday morning, and get to Shanghai by Wednesday morning...

Yo can get it easily yourself next day or from any reputable visa agent,
just have to pay rush fee. Check Sunrise visa right next door.

Hong Kong - Shanghai - Macau should in theory work for the 72 hour visa.

    See http://www.travelchinaguide.com/emba...a/free-72hour/

If you are going to Shanghai bring a respirator. I just returned last week and the air is barely breathable. I couldn't see 50 yards down the street.

    Seriously it is bad..

I know it should work in theory, but I would really like to know if someone has actaully done this before.

I mean it is obviously a loophole, any immigration officer in a bad mood might start to question me... it's not really a transit flight that makes any sense (for someone who is not in HK for tourism).

The first airline won't let you board your flight if they think it will be a problem. If you are allowed to board, then I don't think immigration in Shanghai will be a problem.
