Common sense is not common...Original Post Deleted
As for you, I don't think you have any sense whatsoever. Easy for you to be an armchair critic, let's see you do some real policy decisions and where to spend taxpayer's money. I bet HK will crumble quite soon if you were at the helm...

I completely agree, but this is geoexpat remember? Where posters assume they know better than anyone else (including the government). Put the money where their mouth is however, and I bet all of them will fail miserably...
People who think HKIA is a white elephant when it has over 50 million passengers a year clearly don't know what they are talking about. The same applies to people who dismiss this cruise terminal without even letting a chance for it succeed. There is no point to debating with these folks.

Correction...screwing around with other people's cash.
On a serious note, being a banker and being a government policy maker are two different things. Judging by how some of these bankers acted before and after the financial crash of '08, letting bankers make decisions on behalf of the taxpayer (in terms of infrastructure and social spending) would be the last thing I want.

Then you would undoubtedly lose that wager for we are not to be judged always on what we might be today but by the sum of our experiences ... AND I ... have a very long experience with the maritime industry, both military and civil. A good ex service friend is still in the Cruise line business and we talk a lot ( even have a facebook group!! ) AND I .... have actually been on a cruise liner. I was even offered a job with Royal Caribbean.Original Post Deleted
So yes .. to you I may be ignorant .. BUT ... it is me with your money in my pocket and that just seems like common sense to me.
It is not the technical capability of an infrastructure project to fulfill the proposed use it is whether it is a viable project or a vanity project.
The bookings up to the end of 2016 suggest 103 days of activity. Also the transport links to the terminal are not due to be complete until 2023. It does look like a deep water white elephant.
