    TB,

What point did you actually make on this thread that you dismiss the comments that Boris made? I think he has made some valid arguments speaking from someone also in the maritime industry.

Even if this characterisation where even minutely true, it still ranks stratospherically above that of a troll who has never had an experience outside of pointing fingers at others. Living in a dark room and feasting on mould obviously gives you such superhuman powers ............. in your own tiny mind. WADUA.

Shenzhen have opened their cruise terminal with suggestions that Genting will use it as their homeport base in Southern China rather than Hong Kong. This may not matter that much but homeports tend to have greater embarkation and disembarkation which benefits the local economy much more than a few day trippers.

If it stops mainlanders boarding cruises in HK I might take more cruises from HK.....

Few ship calls, low passenger spending: Hong Kong cruise terminal needs to boost usage, auditor says | South China Morning Post

Perhaps to make things simpler the roof of AL white elephant projects should be painted white?

You are absolutely correct. These jobs will help boost GDP and make Hong Kong the glorious cruise hub it is destined to become.

Analysis suggests it would of been better to just throw the money in the harbour...

You really do have to wonder WHY HK is so bad at this kind of analysis. It's not rocket science and it appears plenty of people knew it was wrong at the time!

What else can you build on a long thin piece of land that juts out into the harbour? An airport runway or a cruise terminal are the first two things that pops into my mind whilst drinking a coffee half asleep in the office on a Tuesday morning between a Monday and Wednesday public holiday. I guess HK analysts must have done their research following the same methodology I have just employed.
